Murakami Music: Stories of Loss and Nostalgia
About
Murakami Music is a genre-defying performance that blurs the real and surreal. Works by Chopin, Mozart, Nat King Cole, The Beatles, and more blend with theatrical readings to explore the pianist characters in Haruki Murakami's books. This highly-acclaimed music-theatre piece was incubated and presented at The Cell Theatre (NYC) under creator Eunbi Kim's artist residency. It had a sold-out premiere at Symphony Space with additional performances at Texas Asia Society, Georgetown University, and Baruch Performing Arts Center. Featured on Japanese television network FujiTV and profiled in a special documentary on Murakami produced by NHK, Japan's national public broadcasting organization .
